“What must I do to do the works of God? They asked. “Believe in whom he has sent.”

Jesus has just fed over 5,000, leaving the 2 fish and 5 loaves as 12 baskets full of leftovers. Jesus fully provided. Now, he turns his attention to teaching the Jews what this meant, and how he is the bread sent from heaven. He says, “I am the bread of life.” Take and eat.

The only way for Jesus to secure eternal life to those whom the Father gives to him his through his sacrificial death on the cross. He must die, his body broken and his blood shed to secure our redemption. He then clarifies that to the one who believes, he must eat his flesh and drink his blood.

This sermon was preached at First Baptist Church Eastwood in Louisville, KY. Our Sunday worship service begins at 11am and you are invited!
